Abacus Health (OTC: ABAHF) (CSE: ABCS) the Rhode-Island based developers of the CBDMEDIC brand, will announce a partnership today with Gillette Stadium and its adjacent venue Patriot Place, a real estate complex owned by the Kraft Group in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The CBD product developers, stadium and mega-mall complex, are aligning to support former NFL tight end Robert Gronkowski’s advocacy of CBD for pain relief.
The partnership is remarkable because the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and other major sports leagues do not allow its players to utilize medical marijuana or CBD for pain relief, while prescription narcotics are permitted. Therefore, the owners of the venue aligning with a CBD company is the closest peripheral collaboration of its kind.
The Patriot Place behemoth entertainment complex boasts myriad retailers, restaurants, nightlife venues, four-star hotels, and even a bowling alley.
The adjacent Gillette-owned 65,878-seat stadium is the full-time home of the NFL’s six-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. The team has sold out every home game at Gillette Stadium since the venue opened in 2002. Other notable sporting events held at Gillette Stadium include the 2016 National Hockey League’s Winter Classic, international soccer matches and concerts.
The CBD brand they have partnered with, CBDMEDIC, uses FDA-registered active pharmaceutical ingredients and is on sale at major pharmacy chains including CVS. The brand will have a presence outside the stadium and throughout the Patriot Place complex. Additionally, a new look for the iconic water tower, located southwest of the stadium, is a part of the campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of CBD.
The partnership is also football’s three-time world champion Gronkowski’s next step as a proponent for CBD as a safe and effective solution for pain management.
The news follows Gronkowski’s poignant career announcement in August, where he shared candid experiences of using CBDMEDIC as part of his post-football recovery. “Gronk,” as he is affectionately known, retired early in March, due to the myriad injuries he sustained as an active player in the NFL.
This initial synergy between a major sports arena such as Gillette Stadium and a CBD company demonstrates the organization’s support for Gronkowski’s advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the power of CBD to manage pain.

Beginning on October 27, Abacus will provide samples of its CBDMEDIC products such as Muscle & Joint Pain Relief Ointment to upwards of 65,000 guests at Patriot Place and will distribute samples outside Gillette Stadium as guests enter the outdoor arena.
Abacus cannot partner with the New England Patriots directly, or distribute samples inside the stadium on football game days because of the NFL’s prohibits the use of CBD –even topically– amongst its players. Therefore, Abacus partnering with the owners of the stadium, rather than the NFL, is a work around that sends a similarly powerful pro-CBD message, while not running afoul of the League.

He believes professional athletes should have the right to use the popular over-the-counter topical that is currently sold nationally in major pharmacies.
